London Marathon

Ever wanted to take part in one of the most iconic marathons in the world? Fancy doing it whilst raising money for a local charity? Whilst one London Marathon is over for another year, if anyone is thinking of participating in the next, running for Fleet might just be your answer!

Every year, Fleet enters a team of just over 20 or so runners into the London Marathon, to not just be part of a race, but to be part of a family too.
Each participant pledges to raise £2,500 for this very worthwhile Cornish charity, and in return Fleet sets up places within the race itself, and then does so much more.

The charity organises everything a runner would need to accomplish their goal, from the transport up to registration on the Saturday, onwards to the hotel for the night with evening meal and breakfast included, transport to the start line on the Sunday morning, and collection from the finish to bring the runners home is all part of the deal. The ‘Fleet Team’ waits for the ‘last one in’ before heading home, starting as a team at Blackheath and cheering each other in to the finish line.

In the run up to the event, there is always a get-together in December, for everyone to meet each other and see if there are other runners with similar paces to train with. The charity also organises three meetings on the Camel Trail, three, six and nine weeks before the marathon, to see how everyone is getting on and offer support where needed.
The group can support fundraising ideas, supply collection buckets (large and small) and a multitude of banners, flags and leaflets. We can also loan out some demo kit to showcase what the charity raises money for.
